Top of the Moonin’ to you folks!
This New Moon is quite a doozy, as it’s the first of a couple in the same sign. This rarely happens, as the lunar calendar has thirteen moon cycles each year, with every lunation normally entering a new sign. In tropical astrology charts this lunation cycle is at zero degrees Aquarius and the next new moon will also be Aquarian. On the sidereal astro-charting flex the January 20th lunar countenance takes on the image of Capricorn, with another Goat-charged lunation cycle due to land next month.
It doesn’t matter how you chart it, the aspects on this moon are kinda nuts. Not in an in-your-face take cover way, more of a subtle this takes time but the transformation is hella deep manner. Aspects are as follows: Moon conjunct Sun, Moon sextile Saturn, Mars conjunct Neptune, Uranus square Pluto. Also, Mercury’s retrograde January 21 (computer crashes and other technological chaos, scheduling snafus, etc.)
I put forth the following question to the Cosmic Tarot in an attempt to elucidate the greatest way to rock these next two lunation weeks:
What is the best energy for the world to connect with at this new moon?
Answer: Four of Cups Reversed
Four of Cups is reminiscent of Moon in Cancer, which means it’s drenched with water. It’s very clear the figure in this tarot card is reflective. And the assertion he is reflecting to the point of oblivion, where he is unaware of whatever is happening around him, can readily be accepted. Four of Cups is normally associated with aloofness, but we’ve got a reversal here so the energy manifests distinct.
In the next two weeks you’ll be aware of where you’ve been aloof in relation to major life opportunities, the Emotion Walls erected to stay safe. Moon in Cancer energy suggests these impenetrable cognitive blockades are sourced from the past and parental influence, not reality.
Prepare to be provoked, your emotional maturity will be tested (Moon conjunct Sun, Moon sextile Saturn). Most likely with people whom you share some type of debt, be it material, psychological or in the feeling realm. But these provocations are great gifts in that awareness will be augmented to the point of epiphany. Four of Cups reversed Moon in Cancer energy translates to “over it”; open to enacting fresh ways of expressing cardinal leadership.
Example: a young man has been hard on himself for weeks lamenting over why he didn’t apply for that perfect job he came across on Craigslist. He’s stuck doing the same old shizz and equates himself with Failure. However, he’s come to realize his life is awesome as-is because he has extra time to pursue what vivifies soul, sets butterflies off in the gut. Post-epiphany, he applies himself to deep-sea diving certification with gusto.
Example two: a woman feels all alone in the world, OKCupid’s coming up with whack suitors supreme and she can’t stop complaining about how lackluster her love life is. Then one day she realizes an undying source of abundant love in family and friends who constantly go out of their way to show interminable affection through “I love yous” and other spontaneous acts of kindness. Then she experiences an aha moment: “Dude, I’ve been a booty call for years thinking man who beds me will wed me.” Woman’s context to dating transforms and she’s now only entertaining potential love partners who want commitment. Pep reunites with her step.
NOTICE, how have you been beating yourself up over being stuck? THEN NOTE, in the reality outside of your head, what is truly possible?
This is a New Moon taking place during a Mercury Retrograde phase, being triggered by events or people from the past is likely. Also, Mercury Retrograde is all about revisiting, revising and researching--the reflection taking place IS progressive. Although it may appear nothing fresh is actually happening, the presence of the Sun, Uranus (Aquarius’ revolutionary planetary ruler), Saturn (Capricorn’s mature-stern ruling planet) and Pluto (super psychological lord of the underworld squaring Saturn), promises status-quo shattering innovation.
So chill out don’t put pressure on Self to make something “better” NOW. Instead, tear down Emotion Walls and get present to other opportunities available outside of the emotional safety net resurrected in mind. You aren’t stuck now and never were.
