What is the most important development human civilization needs to brace for in August?
Nothing can get clearer than point-blank ‘Corruption’.
The world at large is diseased and in August it becomes beyond evident that systems of structure are not operating in a healthy way. From top to bottom, something is funky.
The major arcana tarot card Corruption pulled from this Dark Goddess Tarot represents Aztec Earth Goddess, Tlazolteotl, lord of Filth and Purification. Her name literally relates to waste; she was referred to as the ‘Eater of Excrement’ or ‘Eater of Dirt’. Rotten organic waste, like cadavers or spoiling fruit, sucks and is nasty, it smells, it’s rotten, but these repugnant things are also regenerative. Manure feeds plants and cadavers provide food for animals in this great natural cycle of regeneration.
Back in the day, Tlazolteotl devotees were granted absolution from sins for confessing their corruptions, particularly those of a sexual nature, to one of her priests. After confession, she devoured their impurities and in doing so birthed a new pathway for being. This Goddess’ service guarantees freedom from wickedness and a newborn sensibility free from impurities or corruption if the truth is squarely faced.
However, Tlazolteotl also provokes depraved behavior, even though she possesses the ability to completely forgive and absolve such depravities. She creates harmony through the sh*tty stuff, and literally was offered excrement or urine by worshippers at the altar, who called the oblations “holy sh*t”.
Her presence supports the reality of shocking awarenesses, marvel at something beyond imagination occurring, that is literally gross. Expect a lot of filthiness to be front and center, on a personal and macro level, but fortunately, redemption can occur, even though it is the most squalid, sordid type of matter possible.

Corruption points to Saturn, which is currently transiting through Capricorn until December, 2020. This transit is bringing truth to power in a way that exposes the role someone is really playing. In essence, artifice and feigned, projected personalities are just not going to fly with Saturn in Capricorn. A publicity campaign created to detract from misconduct or straight up criminality won’t work like it did in the past. August, 2018 is the diagnosis month of this transit, where the disease is just beginning to be identified in unequivocal terms.
KEY AUGUST THEMES FOR EACH SUN / RISING / MOON SIGN:
Aries - Six of Rings: Ram, act in moderation. Six of Rings operates best on equal footing and balanced intentions. Often this card speaks to financial transactions and bank balances, with debt and credit issues arising. Don’t give too much or too little. Be careful and take things step by step. Diving in as if there’s nothing to lose is not the behavior that will serve you well in August, but exercising caution will. This doesn’t mean you’ll have to be fearful, however, cautious advancement is advised. Don’t get in arrears over something you can’t pay off or have mighty dues owed to you out of trying to bend things too far in some unnecessary direction.
Taurus - Seven of Cups reversed: Bull, a starry eyed perspective will be helpful only if applied pragmatically. Seven of Cups reversed signifies the danger of running blindly on projected ideas or fantasies of what’s lying ahead. Being polite, even though it’s not the right thing to do, is an example of the energy in the weeks ahead ahead. Ask yourself, is this really necessary? What actually needs to be done? Living in the creative bubble around Seven of Cups reversed is beneficial when energy is applied to a workable plan though. Outline things step by step and see if it flows properly before leaping in. There’s no need for crippling hesitancy, but it’s best to get ducks in a row and everything in order before proceeding.
Gemini - The Empress reversed: Twins, slow progress doesn’t mean no progress. Please read the forecast from last month here for more insight on what is happening. The Empress reversed suggests in August providence has set it as a priority for you to look inward to determine what you really need to be fulfilled and comfortable. Priorities have changed, externally and internally, forcing a recalibration surrounding what is valuable. The problem with The Empress reversed is it is somewhat incompatible with the Gemini essence, which is constantly curious and scouring for new information. The Empress hunkers down and runs on more of a cyclical progression of time, a more natural cycle. Harvest doesn’t happen overnight; the seed is planted and seasons later it grows into harvest. This can occur to the frantic Gemini as wasting time, but that’s not the case. Although instant gratification would be so awesome right now, the fact is it’s going to take a while to fully flourish. The Empress reversed is asking you to find satisfaction in the steady process, which is proving to be an inherent challenge.
Cancer - Wheel of Fortune reversed: Crab, rest. Feel free to take it easy until lift off arrives later down the line. Wheel of Fortune reversed corresponds to the planet Jupiter, which is currently transiting through Scorpio. Although Scorpio is a water sign and Jupiter is now posing a trine to Cancer, this doesn’t mean this transit that began in October 2017 has been easy. It’s been far from easy, all kinds of realities have been dying in certain terms. Emotional sensitivity is heightened to the point where any kind of extra stimulating exposure can be unbearable. There is literally no good reason to press on ahead like a wild steam engine train, especially if you feel it’ll really blow your life off the rails in any way. Chilling may in fact be the best option for a few months. If you'd like, plan to implement a more assertive approach at the next Jupiter in Sagittarius cycle, which kicks off in a few months on November 8. Your greatest oasis is internal peace in August for sure though, take a recess.
Leo - Six of Wands: Lion, stay the course and pay attention to details for enduring success. You are winning on this path and although there may be unexpected developments ahead, there is every indication of triumph. There are nerves and excitement flaring up, because the turnaround is so close, but they’re just natural indications of great change, nothing to worry about. If the butterflies get out of hand, perhaps a countdown or a to-do list to stay focused can help ground and avoid being consumed by high charge buzz.
Virgo - Three of Cups: Virgin, let loose and live free in August. Three of Cups suggests the weeks ahead are a good time to not worry about the substantive details. It is more fun and ultimately beneficial to go with the flow and observe. The spiritual insight obtained by just sitting back and observing will be marvelous and is sure to generate all kinds of smiles.
Libra - King of Swords reversed: Scales of Balance, something major may have happened that you didn’t think would happen, and the event is causing problems seeing clearly. Intuition partnered with a shrewd, logical mind is the pathway forward on this. The logical decision that is in line with the leanings of your heart is the right thing to do. Now, this may be a tough choice, but it is the right one. Coldheartedness may be a concern, but if the best interests of all parties are met by taking this course of action, then it is the most loving thing that could possibly be done.
Scorpio - Ten of Wands: Scorpion, if your plan was to blast through in a certain direction and take off in a flash, then August poses a rude awakening in the revelation of how much time and effort this thing will really take. Ten of Wands is a heavy burden that requires loads of patience and considerable exertion before its completion. It’s all good, the result will be better quality; rushing through does not do this endeavor justice.
Sagittarius - Nine of Wands reversed: Centaur, don’t bark up the wrong tree out of some unwavering commitment to an inappropriate course of action. Nine of Wands tends to indicate stress no matter how it is pulled out of the deck, but in its reversal position for your forecast in August, there seems to be some type of regret, guilt or lingering acrimony evoking unnecessary desperation. Although not working out as planned is never part of the plan, delays and reversals will benefit in the long-run, so take a breather if you need to. There should be no guilt attached to taking a break and getting some fresh air. It’s impossible to sprint forward forever; runners gotta chill and drink some water on occasion or they’d die. How can you live up to the pressures put on yourself with this issue? It’s impossible anyway, so relax.
Capricorn - Two of Swords: Goat, the amount of decisions to be made may be overwhelming, causing fears, issues, inferior complexes or strange dark internal questions to flood the mind and unleash confusion. You’ve been exposed to Two cards in the minor arcana for two straight months, meaning social dynamics and choices within realms of relating have been front and center. Identity crises might have formed in the past couple of months just because the landscape has changed so much in the interpersonal realm for you. The solution is to say screw it and be yourself. There is literally nothing else you can do. The weird personality traits or phobias emerging that are past iterations of yourself will die off eventually and are causing problems now because they are alien to your current environment and no longer work in these surroundings or circumstances. Accept that you may not know how to deal with certain fresh scenarios, throw expectations out the window and just live and learn for the time being. This is a whole new role that you probably don’t have personal precedence for; you never had to be this way until now, so all you can do is acquire your wisdom on the go.
Aquarius - Ace of Wands reversed: Water Bearer, express yourself. Ace of Wands reversed indicates hesitation on how to proceed, especially after a shocking event. In this set of circumstances, anything contrived or manipulated, even with the best intentions, won’t generate the support you need. This has got to come from the heart fully and be unattached to committed expectations. For example, if you want to impress people, that’s not the best aim under this climate; if stressing out to impress, it is more likely to land on the party as unimpressive because the forced strain will give off an inauthentic, manufactured impression. Another manifestation of this energy is being involved with associates that no longer suit you. These people just do not reflect who you are anymore. Don’t hide out in a deluge of inauthenticity to fit in with folk who are no longer legitimate members of your milieu.
Pisces - Sun reversed: School of Fish, tapping into a strong sense of self on the internal plane is what August is all about. Events in July may have exposed what is necessary to achieve ultimate joy in matters of the heart, but it might not have been pretty. Although some Pisceans were showered with love, others may have been flooded with rejection of the most painful sort. But whether super ecstatic or deep in doom, the fact is, ebbing and flowing on the tides of other people and external events is just too exhausting and depleting. It also causes crises of individuality, losing yourself in other people. The Sun reversed calls for deep introspection in the weeks ahead that unequivocally confirms identity, for yourself, so you are anchored in who you are and what you need no matter the outside influence.
TIPS, SUGGESTIONS & NOTES FOR THE MONTH:
- Corruption is everywhere. People appointed to powerful positions in society are doing the public dirty. However, it’s complicated, as citizens are agents of disseminated disease by facilitating corrupt lifestyles and modus operandi, i.e. buying products, working for shady companies… basically every member of society has been taking part in the sick system and keeping it fueled, so all hands are dirty. Without acknowledging this, there is no possibility of receiving the absolution and rebirth Tlazolteotl provides.
- A major thematic issue through August; Own Up to Excrement. Waste, waste management, health and pharmaceutical corruption, ‘trash in the air and soil’ as well as other natural environments are front and center. Toxic elements are palpable and undeniable.
- Disease is prevalent. Even the healthiest, most high-functioning person will be faced with corruption this month. This could be some kind of mental, emotional or physical disease that demands attention.
- Disease wants to grow, it is seeking expansion for its survival. Don’t look for disease in solely “negative” spaces; since corruption is prevalent, it’ll be present in things most people consider positive too. For example, society at large thinks abundance is a really positive thing, but the abundance is coming from somewhere, and where there is surplus for one individual, there is dearth somewhere else. We live on Earth, there are no unlimited resources here. This isn’t a dream world where you can manifest everything you want without cost or impact. So abundance consciousness could actually be amplifying disease.
- Corruption doesn’t tend to happen overnight. A pattern or systemic illness takes a while to develop into something virulent. Look for precedence and don’t ignore warning signs
- Coups or maintaining violent control for power could take place. Diseases take over, they don’t want to compromise their existence.
- Tackle grime. Honoring or invoking the goddess Tlazolteotl aids in this process, but so does literal cleaning. Look at what’s dirty directly and start figuring out how to clean up the mess.
- Let sh*t die. Some things just need to meet their demise to allow for new growth to take place.
