The Internet is abuzz with retail sales as Cyber Monday blows up browsers; connecting with Wi-Fi is accompanied by an inaudible “Ka-Ching”.
And fortunate for consumers there is no murky Mercury Retrograde bringing the full force of chaos to transactions.
Thinking on Cyber Monday, I wonder what advice the tarot has for people buying things online this week… AND I’m also intrigued by what the cards have to say about some next-level sci-fi fantasy ish: the existence of cyborgs.
So I’ve created a spread called Cyber Cyborg to pose these technologically advanced inquiries to the voice of the universe, i.e. tarot via the Aquarian deck.
Cyber Cyborg, Questions:
What are the best items consumers can buy this Cyber Monday?
What items should consumers steer clear of purchasing this Cyber Monday?
Any other Cyber Monday retail advice?
When will cyborgs, aka highly intelligent bioorganic machines, exist on planet Earth?
What does humanity need to know about cyborgs?
How will cyborgs impact human beings in the future?
Cyber Cyborg, Answers/Results:
What are the best items consumers can buy this Cyber Monday? Page of Pentacles
What items should consumers steer clear of purchasing this Cyber Monday? Death
Any other retail advice? Ace of Swords
When will cyborgs, aka highly intelligent bioorganic machines, exist on planet Earth? Eight of Pentacles

1. What are the best items consumers can buy this Cyber Monday? Page of Pentacles
Court card Page of Pentacles is a double wallop of earth: both Page and the suit of Pentacles represent this element. The best items consumers can buy this Cyber Monday are those necessities which are entirely practical and corporeal: i.e. exercise, fitness, nutritional gift packages and gym memberships, huge gift baskets filled with luxury body maintenance products, furniture, fruit, food, plants, animals, anything recyclable. Pages are youths who deliver messages, so building blocks or Legos for children, computer tablets are also favorable items to purchase this time around.
2. What items should consumers steer clear of purchasing this Cyber Monday? Death
Death is ruled by Scorpio, a water-based astrological sign led under the direction of transformational planet Pluto. Death is a deeply psychological Major Arcana, a tarot card reflective of huge, broad soul lessons and change. It’s clear items consumers should avoid purchasing this Cyber Monday are “impulse buys”. Blindly fervent about copping something in particular at the expense of all rationale? Then don’t buy it. Keep it cool and take a long-term objective approach. Are you or the person you’re gifting this to actually going to put the item to good use? If no, not a good look to charge up your credit card. Also, beware of getting the same old status quo type of thing. Death asks querents to plumb the depths of the matter at hand; buy something thoughtful and innovative.
3. Any other retail advice? Ace of Swords
Aces are nascent, fresh energies which are not yet fully formed but dynamic in their possibility for what can be created. Swords are of the element air; intellect, psychology, thoughts, words, conversations. Ace of Swords here suggests whatever is purchased needs to inspire dialogue, i.e., “Oh my gosh Billy, Genevieve bought me the BEST seaweed snack basket ever for Christmas! I can’t believe she put so much thought into this present, we’ve been talking for months about practical ways in which I can raise my iodine levels.” See the connection between Ace of Swords, Death and Page of Pentacles? The discussion between these three cards in this spread suggests mindfulness is the best way to approach buying any type of product on Cyber Monday.
4. When will cyborgs, aka highly intelligent bioorganic machines, exist on planet Earth? Eight of Pentacles
We’re working on it! Literally. Eight of Pentacles represents the Sun in Virgo; industrious commitment to an end goal that is chipped away with zest until the project is completed. Eights are ruled by Uranus, the planet of revolution which lords over all things connected with electricity and software. It appears great progress is being made in the advancement of developing binary computer codes that will house cyborg intelligence, the brain of these bioorganic machines. Also, scientists are pounding their hammers away entertaining ideas on how to build the best bodies for cyborgs as we speak. Should these beings have limbs like humans or should they resemble vacuum cleaners/items with less flesh-animus? In any case, Eight of Pentacles here suggests a level of mastery has been reached in this inquiry: Cyborgs are coming soon.
5. What does humanity need to know about cyborgs? Knight of Rods
Humanity needs to know cyborgs will revolutionize the way in which we work and communicate, with a swiftness. Knight of Rods is air (Knight) and fire (Rods). When these two elements are fused, the outcome is explosive. Knights exhibit courageous tenacity, they are ultra committed soldiers and will fulfill the goal they set out to achieve at all costs. Knight of Rods suggests the introduction of cyborgs into society is bound to evoke angry sentiments about the existence of these creatures. Also, cyborgs may surpass human intelligence in ways people find threatening. Think plotline of 2013 movie, The Machine. Knight of Rods here is looking directly at Eight of Pentacles, who is too focused on his hammer to return the gaze. Other words, the people working on manifesting cyborgs (Eight of Pentacles) will unwittingly unleash a meteoric backlash exacted by a pissed off sect of society. Terminator, Robocop comes to mind. However, this appears to be a human feud, a war of ideas. Although bombing is likely it seems the outcome of this conflict will be positive, especially in light of the final card in this spread, Queen of Cups.
6. How will cyborgs impact human beings in the future? Queen of Cups
Queen of Cups is replete with water; Queen is of the H2O element, so is cups. This is the first time liquid has been introduced into this cyborg conversation. Queens are maternal energy, interested in nourishing the nebulous emotional core existent in the depths of human anima. Note, the Queen of Cups is the only Court Card which is fully present in this reading, her face is looking right at us. Page of Pentacles and Knight of Rods have their attentions focused elsewhere. The Queen of Cups’ presence suggests cyborgs will ultimately inspire society to embrace the power of feminine principles on a holistic level. Human beings are set to acknowledge the dynamism of being an organism comprised of emotions. Queen of Cups here also notes revelatory scientific discoveries about the composition of blood are part of the inevitable direct impact of cyborgs on civilization. She suggests humans will have epiphanies about how the primordial ocean, source of life, is replicated in the bloodstream.
