A grand jury found officer Darren Wilson will not have to face trial after he shot and killed 18-year-old high school graduate Michael Brown on August 9, 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri.
The furore is great, fused with angst generated by hundreds of years of American racial tension. What does the tarot, i.e. voice of the universe, have to say on the matter?
I’ve devised a spread called the Five Ws and One H, which is based on the journalistic method of gathering information in an objective manner, to gain cosmic insight on the Ferguson tragedy.
Five Ws and One H, Questions:
Who is accountable for this?
What is the reality of the situation?
When is the most opportune moment to transform this situation?
Where does focus need to be placed in this situation?
Why is this happening?
How now is the best way to move forward for the benefit of all?
Five W and One H, Answers/Results:
The Hermit reversed
The Fool reversed
Seven of Swords
Seven of Pentacles
Three of Pentacles
Ace of Cups
1. Who is accountable for this? The Hermit reversed
The Hermit reversed is an unwise man. When upright this Major Arcana is reflective of a sagacious philosophical master who retreats in a mountain cave to read books all day. His wisdom offers expansive regeneration to the world in the form of inspiration and healing (The Hermit’s a Virgo). Reversed, as it appears here, The Hermit is a spiteful human being who detests those “lesser” than he. The reversed Hermit suffers a mid-life crisis and his reclusive nature is sparked by an inability to relate to collective consciousness. It’s his way or the highway, pure ego. This unenlightened individual chooses to separate himself from society because he does not tolerate cultural progression; he disdains youth, is unscrupulous in his role as an elder and reckless in his occupation.
2. What is the reality of the situation? The Fool reversed
The Fool reversed suggests this occurrence is tired, as in, it’s a regurgitation of a cycle of ignorance present and in operation for decades. The reality of the situation is such that an Ignoramus is at the helm here, the direct cause of all the fallout. The Fool is another Major Arcana, part of the 22 cards of a tarot deck which reflect soul lessons, very deep, broad stuff. The Fool is ruled by the planet Uranus, an Aquarian celestial body known for generating revolutions. In this reading, The Fool reversed is representative of madness run free. Complete insanity has been unleashed as a result of ascribing to a fear of unconventionality. Whatever The Fool reversed was faced with, he reacted recklessly, in an immature manner and made sure his ass was covered. This card suggests his stupidity may have unwittingly sparked a revolution.
3. When is the most opportune moment to transform this situation? Seven of Swords
Sevens are self-reflective numbers numerologically speaking, as these digits are meditative in their evaluation of circumstance. Seven of Swords is represented in astrology by Moon in Aquarius. This card is subterfuge at its peak. The most opportune moment to transform this situation is now, in secret. As their backs are turned, those accountable are unable to encounter the true nature of revolutionary talks devised by others they cannot see, or choose not to acknowledge. Swords is of the element air, intellect, psychology, communication. The muttering going on in privacy of homes is extremely important. Also, looking at this situation critically with detached awareness is paramount.
4. Where does focus need to be placed in this situation? Seven of Pentacles
Seven of Pentacles is Saturn in Taurus, which represents double earth elemental action. This is rock on rock. Saturn will take you to task, he demands lessons be learned the hard way, with great commitment to long-term plans. Taurus, the Bull, is an astrological sign ruled by Venus, this creature is all about value. Literally and figuratively. Taureans are insanely wonderful financial planners. They stay committed, plow through until they manifest results in 3D reality. Focus on making a plan, then stick to it. Going to be a lot of obstacles, but our world will alter eventually if kept at it.
5. Why is this happening? Three of Pentacles
Three of Pentacles is Mars in Capricorn. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. See the connection between this card and Seven of Pentacles? EARTH EARTH EARTH EARTH. Earth is pragmatism, the real deal. This situation has brought us back to sober reality! Where were we to have been so grossly unaware of just how much the pernicious nature of The Hermit and The Fool reversed impacts our environment? Three of Pentacles is a card of teamwork. Mars is a warrior and combined with the might of a tenacious Capricorn goat, it’s clear why this is happening; we need to rebuild our community with unwavering fervor. Tired foundations rotted the frame and it’s now up to us to shore up the edifice. Three of Pentacles combined with Seven of Pentacles suggest we need to invest in new laws of land, start thinking about how to push future agenda forward.
6. How now is the best way to move forward for the benefit of all? Ace of Cups
Best answer ever!! Ace of Cups is pure love, the burgeoning of it. Aces are always the most dynamic, fresh energies, nascent but powerful, there but not fully formed. Ace of Cups represents an open heart. Aces are also ruled by Mercury, the Messenger planet, so it appears the best way to move forward here is through writing, sending out community rebuild intentions through non-violent protest. Cups, water, is emotion; authentic expression is crucial here.
